Training undertaken

Training organized

  1. Organized one day training programme sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology for Rs.10,000 during 1998 for popularization of Gadgets to women folk.

  2. One day training programme to scientists of TNAU-KVK on “TNAU stored grain insect traps / gadgets” on 6.3.2006 under TNAU-McGill CIDA project.

  3. One day paid training on “TNAU stored grain insect traps / gadgets” to 15 persons from pesticide industry, processing industry and private warehouse organization on 13.09.2006.

  4. ICAR short course as Director on “Post harvest entomological techniques for insect free grain storage to achieve nutritional security” in the Department of Agricultural Entomology from 19th – 28th September 2007. 

  5. ICAR – Centre of Advanced faculty training on "Recent advances in stored product insect pest management" in the Department of Agricultural Entomology from 13th November to 3rd December 2013.

  6. Organized – Regional Workshop on Preventing Grain Losses: Scientific Approach – August – 30-31, 2017. TNAU, Coimbatore – 641003.

Countries visited and purpose

 

  1. Underwent 3 months training in Biochemical Ecology of stored product insect at Cereal Research Centre, Agricultural Food Canada, Canada during 2000 and developed a new technique called “CUP BIOASSAY TECHNIQUE” for rapid assay of plant products for their repellency action against stored product insects.

  2. Underwent 6 months training in Stored Product Entomology under Canadian International Development Agency Scheme at McGill University, Montreal, Canada during 2005 and developed a package technology for safe storage of grains from insects, a new trap model for North America to monitor Rusty grain beetle Cryptolestes ferrugineus. in stored wheat and a technique to increase the efficiency of existing probe trap in North America for monitoring rusty grain beetle in wheat.

  3. Attended Indo- Australian strategic research DST project. GOI. Joint workshop held at Brisbane, Australia from 25th May to June 1st 2013 and presented the results of the study conducted using TNAU trap model with pheromones for rice weevil, lesser grain borer and red flour beetle.

  4. Attended 11th International Working Conference on Stored Product Protection 24 to 28 November 2014, Chiang Mai, Thailand and delivered Keynote address on Monitoring and Sampling Tools for Stored Product Insect Management should reach End-users – an analysis.
